Diploma in child development from Miramar College, San Diego, USA Aparna Sundaram served as Montessori school teacher for more than 10 years, but Bharatanatyam has been her first love ever since she was five.

After initial grooming under smt. Sowbhagya (India), Aparna specialized in Abhinaya under Smt. Dr. Vasundara Doraiswamy (India). Aparna continued her dance passion after moving to USA and started dance education from Smt. Indumathy Ganesh, Fremont. After many years of intense practice and mastering the dance, Aparna did her solo Arrangetram under the guidance of Guru Smt. Indumathy Ganesh in 2003. 

Aparna has performed extensively and has earned the recognition and respect of dance critics for her exquisite execution of Bharatanatyam and has come to be recognized for her flawless rhythm, flowing grace, and powerful projections of the various Abhinaya, with the title "Natya Tilakam".  

Aparna has been giving recitals for many years, and has performed in numerous Sabha’s and academies in India and abroad. Aparna has participated for many dance competitions and represented India in state and national levels and has earned first place. Aparna has always believed in bringing the good dancers together and putting the best dance show. Aparna has performed in number of dance festivals in San Diego, CA. “Learning should never stop” Aparna says, she attended Monsson intense dance workshop of three weeks conducted by Chinmaya Naada Bindu – Gurukul for Performing arts - at Chinmaya Vibhooti near Pune, India, under the guidance of Smt. Rama Bhardwaj. “Svara to Ishwara” and “Nartan to Paramātman” is the theme behind all art at Chinmaya Naada Bindu.

 Aparna is running dance school “Swapanthi Dance Academy” where many students are getting trained in Bharatanatyam. Some of the students have done their solo Arangetram under Aparna’s guidance, and many more are looking forward to.
